Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone By J.K. Rowling

Summary:
Harry Potter has never even heard of Hogwarts when the letters start dropping on the doormat at number four, Privet Drive. Addressed in green ink on yellowish parchment with a purple seal, they are swiftly confiscated by his grisly aunt and uncle. Then, on Harry's eleventh birthday, a great beetle-eyed giant of a man called Rubeus Hagrid bursts in with some astonishing news: Harry Potter is a wizard, and he has a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. An incredible adventure is about to begin!
Favourite Character: Minerva McGonagall
Professor Minerva McGonagall is the Transfiguration teacher and Head of Gryffindor House. She is also a stern witch that has a big heart. Probably the best damn character in the book. Even though she doesn't appear much in the book, she cares for the golden trio throughout their first year. She also buys Harry onto the quidditch team, which is fantastic.
Rating 8 out of 10:
Rereading this book as an adult, you tend to notice a lot more than you did as a kid, but it still brings us back to the halls of Hogwarts. Excellent story writing and great characters.
