This week our writing prompts explore gender, sexuality, and everything LGBTQA+. We are creating these prompts with respect to the LGBTQA+ Citizens of the world and our home country of Canada. These prompts get you as writers thinking about what it means to be an LGBTQA+ person living in 2021; it also helps you explore the depth and troubles that this community faces daily. Have fun with these prompts, and remember to be respectful and open-minded.

  • Create a non-binary, transgender or genderfluid character. Describe how they look, what pronouns they use and how they see themselves.

  • Write a coming-out story. Create an LGBTQA+ Character or use one you have already created. Explain how they discovered who they are, whom they love and how they came out to their friends and family

  • This prompt is a little different from what we usually put down in these newsletters, but we want you to explore a sexuality. Research as much as you can on this sexuality, then write a journal entry from a character identifying with this sexuality.

  • Draw someone holding a pride flag, and explain why they are holding this flag.

  • Create a pride parade float, then create a list of everything you need to create this float.
